Gangly teenager, the demon metal

Heather is looking like Twiggy at the moment.  All legs and a long body!  Her big ears are still too heavy to prick up, but are almost there.   She’s tracking with Pepper, at 11.25kg… and is almost as tall as her mother already!

At Agility training last night, Gem was consistently dropping one particular [...]

Ouch!

Pepper and Rosie had a very busy day yesterday – a half hour walk down to the river before puppy class at the RSPCA,  a couple of hours out at the Tuggeranong trial (just visiting!) and then some play time with Pepper’s family.

They were asleep all the way home, managed not to fall [...]

Not everyone is black and white

For once, we left little Heather by herself to have a half-hour walk together – the whole crew, Gemma, Shadow and Finn.  As luck would have it, we ran into one of Gemma’s old Friends, another BC named Porscha who she used to be in class with.

There was an impostor, though.

A corgi!  [...]

There has to be a first time for everything

And today held two firsts:

One, allowing Finn to chase Gemma as she fetches her Aerobie in a completely open field.

Two, giving complete freedom to Shadow and allowing her to chase the Aerobie, and see what happened!

In the first instance, they both had to ‘work’ for it; Finn had to do a [...]

What’s my Motivation?

Practice UD round at the club today.

We were also breaking in a new set of leathers (as well as the knurls).

Seekback: perfect, she tracked like a bloodhound

Directed Jumping: she bolted to the square, turned, faced square on, and sat, then bolted over the jumps.  Near perfect.

Scent Discrim: Wood, I hardly [...]

Promising signs

It may not have been a clear round today, but Gemma did pretty well in our UD practice today.   The only exercise she bombed was the second “Directed Jump” – by not actually making it to the send-square the second time.  That’s happened in trials too; I can understand the first time, but the [...]

Walker goes for a run

The weather has been… unpredictable today, but as luck would have it we missed the rain by minutes.

Our second walk of the day was mid afternoon instead of evening because I’m busy tonight, and I wanted to make sure Shadow and Walker got a good workout.

There’s somewhat of a difference between Walker’s [...]

Time to be independent, kids…

The rain today put a bit of a dampener (sorry!) on our plans.

Sooty and Shadow still spent over half the day outside cavorting in the yard, interacting with visitors that came and went.

Gem, Gill (and her dogs) and I went for a long walk in the afternoon – the longest Gem has [...]

Forty days and forty nights – it’s almost biblical!

A long day outside playing, with several curious visitors. [...]
