The name may be new, but there are generations of careful selection behind it.
Our foundation is a wonderful Border Collie girl by the name of ‘Gemma’ (Clanheath Perfect Gem). A precocious youngster, she knocked over her obedience titles at 13 months (CCD), 18 months (CD) and 24 months (CDX). Twelve months from our first trial!
She was doing extremely well at UD (Utility) level and almost ready to compete at Agility and Jumping when she came into season early. Obviously, those other plans had to be shelved for a while
The second litter came along just when she was on a roll, having recently picked up two good passes at UD and her JD title.
We’ve had several excellent practices and mock UD trials since Heather and her brothers and sisters arrived, but the third pass eluded us until the very last trial of 2009!
Not many dogs ever earn a UD title, and fewer still do it at the ripe-old age of four years, three months and 10 days!
Gemma has now rounded out her AD (Agility Dog) title, and her JDX (Jumping Dog Excellent) title as well, and won her first Masters Jumping (JDM) trial.
She’s utterly devoted to me, as I am to her, and we spend most of our time together. She comes and goes as she pleases, is careful around traffic and children, and is a joy to live with.
Finn is a bit of a ‘rescue project’ of mine; he has had a hard life without much fun or focus for his mind. He’s back in the show ring now, and is at 25 points (of 100) towards his “Aust.Ch” title… but we took a bit of a ‘rest’ from that to get his first Obedience title (CD) and Endurance Test (ET) titles.
We are geographically very close (walking distance) from Clanheath Kennels in southern Canberra.
