Finn and Shadow were just learning to behave themselves off-leash when Gemma forced them all into Quarantine for a few months. Today, for the first time since then, I felt they were both ready again for an off-leash experience. Yes, Virginia… Shadow actually walked a good deal of 4km not only off-leash, but at [...] Heather just tipped the scales at a whopping 6.1kg, maintaining the usual margin over Pepper, her ‘older brother’ – I haven’t heard from the other two since they arrived in Sydney Gemma is continuing to lose weight back to her normal level, and Finn is also slimming a bit now that he’s earning [...] Not the number of dependents, this time. Finn turned four today, joining Gemma at that ripe-old age on the 20th. Congratulations, boy! Let’s try and get your Aust.Ch title before the next one, hey? Chances are good that Gemma will get her UD by then, but her OC is another question! There are [...] Unlike poor Gemma’s trial, Pepper had his first day at puppy preschool yesterday indoors. With only four in the class it was a really nice environment. As soon as we arrived he was barked at by one of the other dogs but other than a woof or two he was fairly sedate. A dividing chair and [...] Pepper had his first ‘big day out’ today to visit mummy’s work at Brindabella Business Park. We arrived at lunchtime and it was a lovely sunny day so we headed over to the oval which meant going past two cafes where numerous people ‘had’ to pat Pepper and Rosie. His first time out on a leash [...] Pepper has grown so much both in size and mental ability in the last week. Like Heather food holds little interest when it is in his bowl, he simply walks away. If I use the same food (80% kibble, some natural chicken bit treats and Hills canned food) as rewards, either from the bowl or [...] There’s nothing like a bit of competition to whet the appetite! Heather’s appetite has gone the way Gemma’s did (but Shadow’s never did.) Fickle. She’ll lightly graze on the kibble that’s offered (unless she’s really hungry) unless it’s spiced up with some meat, yoghurt, or something else tasty. …or unless someone else is eating [...] Heather slept right through the night, and didn’t make a sound until after she was on the ground outside this morning Yesterday we went back into training for Show/Obedience with Shadow and Finn. Both ‘kids’ have to learn to walk politely by their handler’s side without pulling on a lead – and the [...] Four years old today. What a full life you’ve led in those four years! Nine kids, four titles, countless trials, and soooo many Aerobies caught Long may it continue, I say – and here’s hoping you can pick up your UD soon, and start working on that Obedience Champion title.
