The kiddies have just come inside after nearly seven hours outdoors. The howls of protest at their unfair and unreasonable confinement continue as I write! A bit of work in the yard today, steadily getting things into shape. I started a large book a few days before Gemma was due; I read about 600 [...] Things could hardly be going better. Gemma is relaxed, and doing a great job as a mum. She’s relaxed enough to leave the kids in the warm nest, or let them play with Finn and Shadow or the people who come to visit. Just as long as the puppy approaches Finn, and not the [...] The kids are getting bolder and more coordinated by the day. Shadow is being uncharacteristically gentle and understanding with her half-siblings. She plays with them, and even helps them toilet (as she’s seen her mum do.) The kitchen scale is more accurate, but only goes up to 2kg, so they are now experiencing the indignity of standing on a human bathroom scale instead of a plastic bowl It’s nearly 10 degrees outside, so we should [...] I can’t believe it’s been a week since the last posting. Today, the kids had their first experience outdoors, and their milk teeth have clearly errupted. They aren’t big enough or [...] The kids will be two weeks old in the early hours of tomorrow morning (Sunday). They still can’t make any sense of the visual world, but most are now opening their eyes when they walk. Erm, stagger They are learning to recognise a barrier in front of them, instead of simply barging into [...] The kids are already homing in on a kilogram each (G1 is past already!) and starting to get quite strong and determined. G1 has already started to open her (dark brown) eyes and have a blurry look at her surroundings. There is nothing slow about these kids. They are not wasting any time! Barely [...] |
