An hour closer, and an hour later in the morning to start – much more civilised! Finn and Heather both did a better than average job, but less than their best. Finn came away with Reserve Challenge, and Heather had to make do with first in class. The eternal brides’ maids – always one [...] Last week at Crookwell was a bit of a wet sock, in more ways than one. Finn came home with Reserve Challenge, which wasn’t a major achievement in the field… This week, we got our own back. Finn got Reserve Challenge again (but beat the dog that beat him last week) to Sonny, Jacqui’s [...] Oh so early, oh so hot… Heather was the most willing to work. Apart from breaking into a gallop in the 6-12 sweepstakes, she did amazingly well for a pup who is still wet behind the ears. She didn’t make the cut in sweepies, but she won her class, but fell in the Bitch [...] Thanks to Tim Lumley (who has Finn’s son, Bowie) here are a few images from Heather’s debut Strictly speaking, this posting should be in October 2009 rather than December 2009, but the images below arrived just minutes ago! She’s about a week past 3 months old here. Back to the future #gallery-1 { [...] Heather was up first. She hadn’t had her ‘coffee’ yet it seems. She was all over the place in 3-6month sweepstakes. No surprise that we went nowhere. Finn was next, a long while later. Jacqui slipped away from Parenting duties to show Sonny (Finn’s brother) and Connie among others – and agreed to give [...] Finn gave his best performances yet (apart from breaking gait once) but was ever so slightly out-classed by a more experienced Ch. dog in his class, who beat us both times. He stayed with me, didn’t lag, and didn’t fidget – but he also didn’t put his ears up… that’s still a work in [...] Jacqui was pinned at home with midwifery on her mind, so we had to run solo today. Finn is looking the best he’s looked yet, in the 361 days he’s been living here. Yes, indeedy – the 11th of November will be his anniversary already. He was a bit slow, and wouldn’t put his [...] Finn, Heather and I got up at sparrow-fart today to head to Goulburn. We would have been much better off sleeping… The 3-6 sweepstakes went fairly well (in performance terms) but we went nowhere. Nor did any of the many BCs in the large field. Finn was up against two Grand Champions and a [...] Oh well. There are some definite lessons we brought home with us. Firstly, Heather is much better at showing than even my most optimistic hopes, given her age. With Jacqui’s help, her performance on Sunday and Monday was amazing considering she only opened her eyes for the first time 13 weeks ago, and could [...] I’m afraid the judge today didn’t much like our family. Heather went through uncontested again (kinda defeating half of the purpose of being there – to learn to behave in the ring with other puppies!) and made it to the Best Baby in Puppy shootout.
