What can I say but that I suffered the consequences of not training for 3 weeks and being away for the week prior. I will go out in full sun in 40 degrees but rain, cold and darkness send me like a bear into a cave. Having said that, Pepper did some very nice [...] The whole gang were there today, Gemma, Finn and myself, and Rosie and Pepper with Ang at BDOC for the double trial. I’ll let Ang tell her story, but no matter what she says, she’s damn close to getting a good pass at Novice. Just a bit of detail work on the heel position, [...] Around 13 months, Gemma started to ‘get’ heeling. Around 13-14 months, Shadow did the same. Heather’s brain arrived this evening, express post. A week early. She’s still a little terror for the first 20-50 metres (because of the yapping dogs next door stirring her up) but after 100m or so, I unclipped the [...] With Heather coming into season this week, and a general lack of form from Gemma in the last few weeks (she’s more interested in playing than working!) it came as no surprise today that she didn’t pass at our home club. On the way, visibility was down to about three car-lengths in the pea-souper [...] Pepper celebrated his first birthday by sharing a cake (chicken and turkey meatloaf variety) with his big sister Rosie. Weighing in (roughly) on his birthday at 18kg, it is just as well he no longer lies on the glass outdoor table! Pepper provided moral support to Rosie today as she gained her third CCD pass [...] Gemma, Maxi, Styx and Banner et al really started behind the 8-ball today. Their UD ring was stomped flat by the Agility trial the day before, and was chock-full of scents and interesting diversions. In the seek-backs, it was more like blind-man’s bluff! Gemma did pretty well, but just short of OC level. Even [...] A small trial today, only a handful of dogs. Finn was the second of two dogs in Novice. Considering he’s only done the full set of exercises about six times, and the stays only twice (including today!) he did remarkably well. I was actually more worried about handling him than his performance; I haven’t [...] We had a mock trial today; a good way to get Gemma used to having Finn around at trials without wasting too much money on entry fees. Gem is used to having my undivided attention at trials – it’s our one-on-one time. Or, it has been up until now. The rain held off for [...] 25 19/19 14/14/15 26 20 10/25 = 187, two points more than we need (note that’s four perfect scores there: 15, 20, 10 and 25) (-5 -1/-1 -1/-1/0 -4 0 0 0) It was good enough to win the ring, so we ended up making a profit of $1 on the weekend, if [...] |
